Diesel Mechanic (Winston-Salem, NC)
About The Position
Join the team as a skilled Mechanic responsible for keeping the fleet and equipment running at peak performance. The role diagnoses, repairs, and maintains a range of automotive and stationary equipment, including trucks, tractor-trailers, heavy equipment, hydraulic systems, air compressors, and welding equipment. The work includes indoor shop and outdoor field work, with exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals such as fuel, grease, and oil, moving mechanical parts, and moderate to loud noise. The position requires handling heavy materials and frequent physical activity, including extended periods of standing, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and working on your back.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair fleet vehicles and stationary equipment to company standards.
- Proactively identify issues and coordinate repairs with the Manager and team.
- Supervise and guide a Mechanic's Helper.
- Conduct required inspections and complete maintenance documentation accurately.
- Respond to road calls and on-site equipment breakdowns as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Follow safety and environmental regulations and promptly report concerns.
- Pick up equipment or supplies as needed.
- Train fellow employees and share knowledge.
- Provide coverage for colleagues as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
