Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as a Diesel Mechanic (level based on skill and experience)
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brakes
  • Ability to read and interpret diagnostic data and service manuals
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain, depending on location)

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications are a plus (and supported by GFL!)

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, air brakes, and emissions systems
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Utilize diagnostic software and tools to efficiently identify and resolve issues
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair needs clearly
  • Work closely with operations and leadership to minimize downtime and maximize fleet reliability
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and best practices
