About The Position
Pacific Rail Services (PRS) is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic for their East St. Louis, IL location at the Rose Lake Rail Terminal. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency of the terminal by ensuring heavy equipment and vehicles are in top condition. The position offers a predictable day shift schedule with opportunities for overtime and involves working directly with various vehicle systems.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of real diesel or heavy equipment experience
- Your own hand tools (we give you a generous yearly tool allowance)
- Solid understanding of air brakes, electrical, hydraulics, and diesel engines
- Valid driver’s license
- Pass a standard 7-year background check and drug screen
Responsibilities
- Keep heavy forklifts, hostlers, and terminal vehicles in top shape
- Tackle air, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems with confidence
- Weld, fabricate, and problem-solve on the spot
- Perform preventative maintenance that prevents downtime and keeps the terminal flowing
