About The Position

Florida Express Waste & Recycling, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety-conscious and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Ocala, FL. This role is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a fleet of diesel trucks and equipment, including electrical and hydraulic systems. This position involves AC maintenance and has a primary schedule of 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays. During the initial training period, early morning hours will be required.

Requirements

• 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
• Familiarity with fleet maintenance software and inspection protocols
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Comfortable working in physically demanding conditions year-round

Nice To Haves

• CDL preferred (not required)

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using computerized diagnostic systems
• Initiate repairs or assign corrective actions as needed
• Perform safety inspections and operational checks on fleet equipment
• Review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
• Accurately document all maintenance activities using fleet maintenance software
• Track parts usage and repair time
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
