About The Position

Diesel Truck/Tractor, Trailer and forklift mechanic providing maintenance for MEI fleet of forklifts (6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k) Peterbilt and KW tractors and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers. This role involves mid-level mechanic work on diesel vehicles, including routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems. The mechanic will be responsible for determining vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts, and keeping equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures. The position also requires maintaining vehicle records, keeping shop equipment operating, containing costs by using warranty and evaluating service/parts options, and managing supplies through inventory and ordering. Enhancing the maintenance department's reputation by taking ownership of new requests and exploring value-adding opportunities is also a key aspect. Daily housekeeping duties in the assigned area are expected.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum two (2) years proven fleet mechanic experience (Heavy Equipment and Vehicles)
Minimum of 1year of intermediate skills working in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Construction industry experience
Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
Rigging experience
CDL A license

Responsibilities

Mid-level mechanic work on diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service and hydraulic systems.

Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for extensive and complex repairs.
Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when.
