Diesel Mechanic OPEN INTERVIEWS
About The Position
Academy Bus is seeking full-time Bus Mechanics Level A & B for our Baltimore, MD location. This role involves the repair, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of modern tour buses, including reconditioning, preventative and routine maintenance, inspections, and road tests. Responsibilities also include warranty and repair documentation, and the diagnosis, inspection, installation, disassembly, and cleaning of various bus components such as brakes, suspension, tires, radiators, alternators, steering components, and more. The role may also involve responding to road calls, basic welding/fabrication, and for Class B Mechanics, assisting A Level Mechanics and training/supervising C Level Mechanics. Class A Mechanics will train and supervise Mechanics and Cleaners.
Requirements
- (B) 4-7 years of diesel engine maintenance
- (A) 7+ years of diesel engine maintenance
- (A) Proficient in the use of diagnostic devices such as: DDEC readers, ATEC readers, SmarTire, schematics, AIC (Freon) recovery and charging equipment
- Proven ability to use hands tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment, and testing instruments
- Must have own tools according to level
- Valid driver's license
- Basic computer skills
Nice To Haves
- CDL License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement is a plus but not required, willingness to obtain a CDL License is also desirable.
Responsibilities
- Repair, troubleshooting and diagnosis of modern tour buses
- Reconditioning, preventative and routine maintenance

- Warranty and repair documentation
- Diagnosis, inspection, installation, disassembly and cleaning of components such as: brakes, suspension, tires, bearings, seals, radiators, water pumps, coolant hoses, alternators, regulators, steering components, oil/air filters, door assemblies, controls, seats, belts, electric motors, pneumatic valves, cables, and linkages.
- Respond to road calls
- Basic welding/fabrication
- Class B Mechanics will assist A Level Mechanics with skilled work and train/supervise C Level Mechanics
- Class A Mechanics will train and supervise Mechanics and Cleaners.
