The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance checks and services, as well as general maintenance and repairs on a fleet of vehicles including semi-trucks, cars, pickups, and yard trucks. This role also involves ensuring vehicles meet Department of Transportation road safety requirements, performing annual federal inspections, and managing work priorities. The mechanic will operate various equipment, perform basic shag and forklift operations, and utilize welding and cutting tools for repairs. A strong understanding of air brake systems, alignments, tire matching, electrical systems, and fuel systems is essential. The position requires proficiency with diagnostic software and the ability to repair AC systems and perform overhead valve adjustments.
