About The Position

Harvey Waste & Recycling has an opening for a Diesel Mechanic to join their growing team in New Bedford, MA. The schedule is Monday - Friday with a 2pm start time, working 45 to 50 hours per week, with Saturdays as needed. The pay rate is $26.00 to $30.00 per hour (DOE), with an earning potential of $75,000+ annually with available overtime and bonus opportunities. As a key member of the automotive maintenance technicians team, the Diesel Mechanic's work will focus on the overall maintenance of equipment used by the company in the transportation and handling of vehicles. This will involve inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of proven experience in the field
Valid Driver's License with Clean Driving Record
Schedule flexibility to work 2nd shift Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays
Ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments to complete work assignments
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

Initiating or assigning repairs by utilizing vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes
Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
Reviewing, completing, or assigning repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
Conducting safety checks on vehicles and equipment
Performing service calls for emergency breakdowns
Maintaining a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards
