About The Position

Decker Truck Line, a family-owned company with over 95 years in business, is expanding and seeking experienced 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanics to join their team at the Bessemer terminal. This role involves providing maintenance and repair on a private fleet of modern trucks and trailers, processing work orders, and accurately completing necessary documentation. The company has received numerous awards, including being named one of North America's Best Fleets to Drive For for five consecutive years and North America's 2025 #1 Large Carrier to Drive For. They also won the "Elite Fleet" award in 2026 and the "Iowa Motor Truck Association Image Campaign" for community involvement. Additionally, they were a recipient of Hy-Vee’s “Transportation Supplier of the Year” Award. This position offers a competitive wage paid weekly, a $2000 sign-on bonus for experienced Tractor-Trailer Diesel Techs, and a $3/hr shift differential for the 2nd shift. There is also an opportunity for growth into shop leadership.

Requirements

• Computer based diagnostic skills with OEM interfaces
• 1+ Year of Diesel Mechanic Experience
• Must have own tools; tool lease program available if needed
• Valid driver’s license required
• Basic computer knowledge for email and work orders etc.
• Knowledge and adherence to DOT/OSHA policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

• Paccar experience preferred
• Steel and Aluminum Welding experience is a plus
• Reefer experience is a plus
• CDL a plus but not required

Responsibilities

• Providing maintenance and repair on a private fleet of well-equipped, late model trucks and trailers with top of the line technology
• Processing work orders
• Accurately filling out necessary documents
• Other duties as assigned
