About The Position

This is a paid internship opportunity for students enrolled in a diesel, automotive, heavy equipment, or mechanical program. Interns will work side-by-side with experienced diesel technicians in a fast-paced heavy truck shop, gaining hands-on experience in preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, electrical and ECM systems, brake systems, suspension, and drivetrain repairs. The program also covers shop safety and fleet maintenance procedures, and use of professional diagnostic software. This is not a "coffee-and-cleanup" internship, but a real learning experience designed to build skills that matter in the industry and provide a direct path into a skilled trade career. Military experience and students with hands-on backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a college, trade school, or technical program.
Ability to lift 35+ lbs.
Ability to work in a shop environment.
Strong attendance and willingness to learn.
Ability to work safely and follow direction.

Nice To Haves

Valid driver’s license preferred.
Mechanically inclined.
Willing to learn and work hard.
Interested in building a long-term career in diesel repair.
Reliable, motivated, and coachable.
Military experience, shop classes, welding, farming, equipment operation, racing, fabrication, or hands-on hobbies are all strong foundations for success.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance on Class 8 trucks.
Conduct diesel diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Work on electrical and ECM systems.
Perform brake systems, suspension, and drivetrain repairs.
Learn and apply shop safety and fleet maintenance procedures.
Utilize professional diagnostic software including DiagnosticLink, Cummins Insite, and Bendix/Wabco.
