About The Position

Nextran Truck Centers is hiring a Diesel Mechanic - Service Technician in Duluth, GA. This role is for experienced Diesel Technicians who take pride in solving tough engine problems and getting trucks back on the road. The position involves diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Opportunities for mentoring teammates, leading projects, and career growth are available. Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Cummins Engine Repair Certification (Required)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with email, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to learn and use dealership management and diagnostic software
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, 75 lbs. frequently, and over 100 lbs. occasionally with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to work above shoulder height and underneath vehicles using creepers or lifting equipment.
  • Ability to enter and exit truck cabs and access engine compartments safely.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of diesel diagnostic experience
  • CDL is a plus
  • Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred
  • ASE Certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
  • Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs.
  • Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings.
  • Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule.
  • Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
  • Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices.
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.
