About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining the Company fleet in accordance with established schedules and all government regulations. The Diesel Mechanic will perform repairs and ensure the proper functioning of electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, and participation in team-based problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 1 year diesel mechanic experience.
• CDL required.
• Must be able to provide tools.
• Must have the ability to make good decisions.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Nice To Haves

• Certification from vo-tech or trade school preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and keeps electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks running properly, following manuals, and using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of electrical, power transmission, brake, and other automotive systems.
• Reads job orders and observes and listens to trucks in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
• Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts, using hand tools.
• Overhauls gas or diesel engines, using mechanic's hand tools, welding equipment, standard charts, and hoists.
• Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments, using hand tools.
• Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications.
• Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and contributing to team goals and policies.
• Maintains familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and understands the responsibility to support these systems.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
