About The Position
Interstate Waste Services is seeking a Diesel Mechanic B to perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. The role involves performing preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding major components on vehicles and equipment, ensuring accurate diagnosis and effective repair or replacement. The position also requires adherence to safety procedures, completion of paperwork using fleet maintenance software, assisting with equipment repair and adjustment, washing vehicles, conducting safety checks, assisting with breakdown service calls, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic
- Computer diagnostic experience is required
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience from waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a plus
- Trade school or similar training is a plus
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices
Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspection (PMI).
- Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Assist in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
- Wash vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
- Assist with service calls for breakdowns.
- Perform other maintenance related work as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
