About The Position

Reyes Fleet Management is seeking a Diesel Mechanic B to help with repairs and maintenance on trailer/tractor equipment located at our fleet shop in Caledonia, MI. This is a full-time position on the 3rd shift, working Monday through Friday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. The role involves inspecting, repairing, and performing routine preventative maintenance on fleet equipment, including standard component inspections and repairs. Accurate documentation of work performed, parts used, and repairs/inspections completed through the online AssetWorks system is required. The position also involves learning to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and technical manuals, and adhering to all company, local, state, and federal policies and regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and Reyes Fleet Management standards. This role requires driving company vehicles and is regulated by the DOT, necessitating a current driver qualification file, including annual motor vehicle records checks, DOT physicals, and safety performance history requests. CDL holders will undergo a DOT Drug Screening and FMSCA Clearinghouse review. Other projects or duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED) with 2 plus years of related experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess own tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations to operate applicable company vehicles
  • Ability to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurately inspecting, repairing and completing routine preventative maintenance of Fleet Equipment, including standard component inspections and repairs.
  • Complete necessary documentation for repairs and maintenance while maintaining accurate records of work performed, parts used, and repairs/inspections completed through the online AssetWorks system.
  • Learn and assist diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal polices and regulations including DOT, OSHA, and Reyes Fleet Management standards, while ensuring compliance with safety programs, correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practices.
  • This position requires driving Reyes Family of Businesses, Reyes Fleet Management and customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualification file to be maintained as required by the role. The Driver Qualification file includes: an annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last three years. Additionally, CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMSCA Clearinghouse review.
