About The Position

Reyes Fleet Management is seeking a full-time 1st shift Fleet Diesel Mechanic A to help with repairs and maintenance on trailer/tractor equipment at our facility shop in Lake Orion, MI. This position involves diagnosing, rebuilding, and repairing fleet equipment, including tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. The role requires completing thorough documentation for work orders using an online Enterprise Asset Management system and diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic technology. The mechanic will complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision, adhering to all company, local, state, and federal policies and regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and Reyes Fleet Management standards. This position may require driving company, Reyes Family of Businesses, and customer vehicles, and is regulated by the DOT. Some travel may be required, and other projects or duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED with 3 plus years of related experience
  • Must possess own tools
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations to operate applicable company vehicles
  • Ability to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Valid CDL (License A) is highly desired; mandatory in some locations
  • Technical School Certification

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, rebuild and repair fleet equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, and related parts)
  • Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system
  • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electric problems utilizing diagnostic technology/software when applicable
  • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal polices and regulations including DOT, OSHA, and Reyes Fleet Management standards, while ensuring compliance with safety programs, correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practices
  • This position may require driving Reyes Family of Businesses, Reyes Fleet Management and customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualification file to be maintained as required by the role. The Driver Qualification file includes: an annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last three years. Additionally, CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMSCA Clearinghouse review
