About The Position

This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on rolling stock and equipment. The mechanic will be responsible for basic pre-trips, paperwork, driving equipment, adjusting brakes and clutches, performing Category C tasks, changing clutches, performing PMs, repairing hydraulics and hoses, performing basic welding, and changing out components. The position requires the ability to work with minimal supervision and follow all safety regulations and company policies. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License (MVR check is condition of employment).
  • Willing and capable of working overtime as required.
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Ability to work with Insite software.
  • In-depth knowledge of Fleet Maintenance Operations or transferable skill sets from similar industries.
  • Ability to provide own tools.
  • Follow Department of Transportation, State and Federal laws, and company safety policies and programs.
  • Must be able to follow workplace safety rules, including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout Tag out procedures, and process safety management-related matters.

Nice To Haves

  • ASC Certification (preferred).
  • Diesel Certification (preferred).
  • 2 years Garage/Diesel Mechanic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic Pre-Trips on all various rolling stock.
  • Performs all necessary paperwork associated with the assigned job, i.e., (work orders, charge parts out).
  • Drives various equipment safely on the lot or into the garage work area.
  • Adjust brakes and clutches to FMCSA standards.
  • Performs all Category C tasks.
  • Changes/replaces clutches; PMs all equipment; makes or repairs hydraulics or hoses.
  • Performs work assignments with minimum direction from the supervisor.
  • Performs basic welding functions along with being able to change out a variety of components related to equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned.
