The Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician III provides safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by conducting preventive maintenance inspections, repairs, expert diagnostics, and repairs to reduce road breakdowns and vehicle downtime and improve fleet reliability. The role services fleet vehicles and equipment, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, refrigeration units, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment. The technician documents work performed, addresses Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups, and mentors Fleet Technician I and II employees. The position may include moderate supervisory duties when the Fleet Manager or Fleet Supervisors are unavailable. The technician must supply their own tools; Sysco supplies diagnostic equipment and major tools. Work is frequently outdoors and may involve non-traditional hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call work. Occasional travel to other operating companies or the corporate office may be required based on business needs.
