About The Position

The Fleet Services Technician performs automotive and equipment maintenance and repair work for the Nisqually Indian Tribe. Responsibilities include timely and thorough diagnosis and repair of a variety of gasoline powered equipment. All duties will be taught on the job by Fleet Service Mobile Master Mechanic. Once apprentice training has been signed off by Mobile Master Mechanic, this position will be promoted to Fleet Diesel & Equipment A-23 Step I.

Requirements

  • Some experience in the automotive repair & maintenance field.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License and be insurable under Tribe's insurance.
  • Must be an Enrolled Nisqually Tribal member and at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a State and National (FBI) criminal history background check prior to employment.
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs.

  • Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.
  • Some experience working/repairing diesel equipment.
  • Eager to learn and excel in automotive repair.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of Tribal construction and farm equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance services and inspections on equipment and trailer.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel-powered equipment.
  • Diagnoses, repair, and wire electrical systems.
  • Install, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, hydraulic and air brake systems.
  • Operates a variety of diagnostic engines and other testing equipment.
  • Perform drilling, tapping threads, measuring, and simple welding to repair, design, and fabricate for equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair hydrostatic, manual transmissions and differentials.
  • Test and inspection of emissions.
  • Test and inspect completed work to assure proper performance and timely completion.
  • Perform safety inspections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
