About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, cranes, trailers, and other motorized equipment. This position is based in a shop environment but requires some travel to other locations and job sites. Travel may include supporting emergency equipment repairs, performing preventive maintenance, or assisting with fleet repairs at locations without a dedicated mechanic. Travel assignments include overtime and per diem.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience working with heavy equipment, track equipment, trailers, cranes, or similar machinery.
  • 5+ years of experience in at least two technical areas, such as: Hydraulics, Electronics, Small engines, Air conditioning, Other related mechanical systems
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Trade school, dealership, factory service training, or equivalent technical education in diesel mechanical repair/maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Good computer, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to respond with urgency when equipment repairs require immediate attention.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair are preferred.
  • Additional certifications may be required based on assigned responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to keep equipment operational.
  • Review daily assignments with the Shop Foreman and prioritize repair and maintenance work.
  • Complete work orders accurately and within expected timeframes.
  • Document mileage, operating hours, repair dates, and work performed.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and escalate emergency or high-priority repairs when necessary.
  • Minimize equipment downtime by efficiently coordinating tools, parts, and repairs.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow all safety policies and operating procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to complete repairs and maintenance projects.
  • Travel to other locations for maintenance, repairs, training, seminars, meetings, or emergency support.
  • Perform additional maintenance-related duties as needed.
