About The Position
Academy Bus is seeking a full-time Diesel Bus Mechanic (Class A) for our Richmond, VA location. This role offers a $2500 Sign On Bonus and requires a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends. The pay rate is $34.00 - $42.00 per hour.
Requirements
- 7+ years of diesel engine maintenance
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic devices such as: DDEC readers, ATEC readers, SmarTire, schematics, AIC (Freon) recovery and charging equipment
- Proven ability to use hands tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment, and testing instruments
- Must have own tools
- Valid driver's license
- Basic computer skills
Nice To Haves
- CDL License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement is a plus but not required
- Willingness to obtain a CDL License is also desirable
Responsibilities
- Class A Diesel Bus Mechanic Repair, troubleshooting and diagnosis of modern tour buses
- Reconditioning, preventative and routine maintenance
- Inspections and road tests
- Warranty and repair documentation
- Diagnosis, inspection, installation, disassembly and cleaning of components such as: brakes, suspension, tires, bearings, seals, radiators, water pumps, coolant hoses, alternators, regulators, steering components, oil/air filters, door assemblies, controls, seats, belts, electric motors, pneumatic valves, cables, and linkages.
- Must have bus experience, specifically working on Cummins and Detroit
- Respond to road calls
- Basic welding/fabrication
- Class A Mechanics will train and supervise Mechanics and Cleaners.
