About The Position

Eversource is looking for a talented and motivated Diesel/Automotive technician to join our Fleet team. The training period is 6 months and the permanent location will be determined after the training period. Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
Must be able to obtain a valid health certificate within six months.
Must possess a working knowledge of and the ability to use a tablet or a desktop computer.
Must have the ability to diagnose problems in automotive/truck equipment and to make the necessary repairs to return the equipment to safe and operable condition.
Must be familiar with the use and safe operation of torches and gas welding equipment.

Nice To Haves

CDL Driver’s and Inspectors license preferred. Must be able to obtain within six months.
Completion of a postsecondary program in automotive service technology a plus
Experience with electronic diagnostic software and instrument systems preferred.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, perform inspections and make repairs on chassis, gas/diesel engines, drive trains, rear axles, steering mechanisms, hydraulic/air braking systems, suspensions, cooling systems, wheels, tires, and repair associated construction equipment.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs and preventive maintenance as assigned.
Safely handle standard garage materials, chemicals, and maintain a clean & safe work area.
Accurately document work using Chevin maintenance program.
Work independently either in the assigned shop or at other locations within the limits of the classification.
Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs.
