About The Position

This program is designed for students currently pursuing an associate or technical degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the internship experience. It is not designed for graduates. The successful applicant will be support as a diesel / auto mechanic on scrapers, blades, dozers, haul trucks, miscellaneous small equipment and light vehicles. This is a 3-month or 8-month position, with start dates in May 2027.

Requirements

  • Enroll in an accredited diesel mechanic / automotive program and in good academic standing with the college or university.
  • Completed a portion of college in the associated field of study and intents on completing the degree.
  • Applicants need to have a valid driver’s license
  • Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work rotating shifts.
  • Steel-toed Shoes
  • Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and the applicable Job Function Test (JFT).

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety inspections and corrections.
  • Perform mechanical work on heavy equipment and small diesel engines.
  • Remove and install engines and components.
  • Assemble and disassemble engines, brake adjustments, repair clutches and wheel bearings.
  • Perform general repairs on trucks, tractors and light vehicles.
  • Perform engine tune ups and field work.
  • Service, operate and test large equipment.
  • Clean the shop.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
