About The Position

Oversees daily operations of the Tool and Die team in the Top Cap Press area, ensuring tooling, dies, and fixtures run efficiently to meet production goals. Leads and mentors technicians, assigns tasks, and enforces safety, quality, and productivity standards. Collaborates with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to support new product launches and drive continuous improvement. Manages preventative maintenance schedules, minimizes downtime, and optimizes tooling performance. Tracks parts usage, repair costs, and recommends process enhancements. Requires strong technical expertise in machining, stamping, and die maintenance, along with proven leadership and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED (General Education Development) or equivalent required
  • Supervisory experience in a technical machining/stamping and forging manufacturing environment
  • High volume manufacturing experience strongly desired
  • Experience with Lean and 5S systems extremely beneficial
  • Candidates must be a good communicator and have excellent problem solving and people skills
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for -specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment
  • Practical understanding of engineering principles and technologies used in manufacturing
  • Proficient in design techniques and 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Strong foundation in mathematics including algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment maintenance
  • Familiarity with production processes, quality control, and cost optimization
  • Skilled in operating and monitoring machinery and production systems
  • Ability to select appropriate tools and equipment for specific tasks
  • Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues
  • Capable of performing routine maintenance and mechanical repairs
  • Proficient in identifying problems and conducting root cause analysis
  • Strong deductive and inductive reasoning skills
  • Able to visualize and plan complex assemblies and tooling layouts
  • Skilled in organizing information and recognizing patterns
  • Excellent manual dexterity for handling and assembling components
  • Accurate in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers)

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises production employees, handling hiring, training, performance reviews, and employee relations in alignment with company policies.
  • Provides regular feedback, conducts semi-annual reviews, and drives team development through training workshops and mentorship.
  • Ensures production goals are met by monitoring KPIs (Safety, Quality, Production, Financial, Manpower).
  • Oversees defect, material loss, and expense trends; assigns corrective actions and enforces strict control over consumables.
  • Leads Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and reduce costs.
  • Enforces safety protocols, investigates incidents, and implements permanent corrective actions.
  • Conducts root cause analyses using 5-WHY, 8D, fishbone, and 4M methodologies.
  • Manages die set maintenance schedules and repair tracking systems.
  • Develops and distributes reference materials, procedures, and daily work logs.
  • Coordinates with purchasing to manage spare parts inventory and evaluate supplier products.
  • Plans and executes tooling operations based on blueprints and specifications.
  • Assembles, inspects, and tests dies and tools using precision instruments.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical failures and escalates issues to support teams.
  • Works with engineering, quality, and production teams on new product launches and improvement projects.
  • Coordinates with other supervisors to align cross-departmental activities.
