About The Position

A die setter is responsible for installing, adjusting, and maintaining dies in stamping presses to produce parts or products according to specifications. They ensure that the dies are properly aligned and the machines are set up correctly for efficient production. Die setters also perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and monitor the quality of the produced parts to meet required standards. Their role is crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of the manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • 1+ year experience in die tryout or a related role - in a manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of experience as a die setter in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, process control sheets, and technical drawings
  • Ability to perform precise measurements and adjustments to ensure product quality

Responsibilities

  • Position and align tooling, set and adjust mechanisms (stops, feeds, gauges, ramstroke, air ejectors, vacuums, wiring, and cutoffs).
  • Load coils of raw materials and set up auxiliary equipment (rewinds, straighteners, scrap choppers).
  • Inspect parts visually and dimensionally, make necessary tooling and machine adjustments to meet specifications.
  • Oversee ongoing press operations, ensuring compliance with production standards and troubleshooting issues.
  • Install and verify safety devices, instruct operators on press operation and safety procedures.
  • Remove, inspect, and transport tooling for resharpening or repair.
  • Complete required paperwork, reports, and communicate equipment or process issues to the Team Leader.
  • Clean machines and workstations at the end of production runs, maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
  • Operate micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines, optical comparators, fixed gauges, surface plates, material handling equipment, and hand tools.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and required.
