The Die Setter is responsible for preparing dies and setting them on the bolster. This role involves cleaning dies in the press and after production runs, transporting dies to the tooling location for work, opening dies, and repairing grippers. The position requires entering all time into SAP, documenting work performed, and ensuring work orders are completed on time and with proper checks. The Die Setter must escalate any uncertainties to their lead or supervisor, continuously seek improvements to reduce costs, and be ready to work at the start of the shift, taking initiative for pass-downs and staying productive. They are responsible for downtime related to tooling they have worked on and must collaborate with the team leader to understand priorities, adapt to schedule changes, and ensure standard work is followed. This role also includes completing a die setter checklist, attending daily meetings, and participating in training for different areas and new improvements. Safety is paramount, requiring the assurance that all safety devices are in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are followed, PPE is worn correctly, and near-misses, injuries, or accidents are reported immediately. The work area must be kept clean and orderly to prevent hazards. Adherence to quality policies and procedures, including acceptable work standards and customer specifications, is essential, as is participation in quality and environmental management systems. The Die Setter must observe and follow company policies and maintain proper standards of conduct.
