About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and setting molds into machines. This includes setting barrel heats, process, robot, end of arm tooling (EOAT), nozzle replacement, and any necessary connections (water, air, or hydraulic) lines. The position also involves pulling existing molds from presses, storing unused equipment, supporting material handler responsibilities, and completing all necessary paperwork. The role is for the 1st Shift with hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, requiring the employee to be on-site 5-6 days a week at the Clinton Township, MI location.

Requirements

  • High School Education or Equivalent (GED) preferred
  • Able to prioritize safety and best practices on mold setup.
  • One to three months on the job training is required for the assignment.
  • Good attendance is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Read operator and setup instructions and fully understand the function of the mold, such as hydraulic core sequence, water diagram, etc.
  • Set barrel heats after ensuring the injection molding machine (IMM) is purged of previous material.
  • Clean mold back plates (clamping surface) and platens before and after each mold change.
  • Install and remove molds in accordance with established procedures.
  • Use of crane in accordance with established procedures.
  • Install all related connections needed for a mold change.
  • Install pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical signals, hot runner, RJG, cores, without damaging them, verifying for leaks and proper signal relation.
  • Follow water line diagram, and if needed, fill out water diagram.
  • Ensure all water lines are connected, flow verified, and safety locks installed.
  • Connect and test hydraulic and/or pneumatic lines for proper function, if needed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by performing assigned duties.
  • Complete required paperwork and any necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all working areas to be free of any trip hazards, removing all unused components from the surrounding area of the IMM when completing mold changes.
