About The Position

The Die Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production dies used in manufacturing operations. This position supports production by ensuring dies are properly maintained, available, and performing to required quality and productivity standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in maintenance, machining, tool and die, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in die maintenance, tool and die repair, industrial maintenance, machining, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Experience troubleshooting tooling, dies, fixtures, or production equipment in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to inspect dies and tooling for wear, damage, alignment, and performance issues.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools, hand tools, grinders, drills, presses, and basic shop equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Understanding of machining, forming, cutting, welding, and general manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical improvements.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate clearly with production, maintenance, and engineering personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, clean, repair, and adjust production dies to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot die-related issues affecting part quality, fit, forming, cutting, repeatability, or production flow.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on dies, tooling components, punches, inserts, wear surfaces, and related equipment.
  • Respond to production die issues in a timely manner to support uptime and minimize downtime.
  • Identify worn, damaged, or out-of-spec components and coordinate needed repairs, replacements, or improvements.
  • Make adjustments and minor modifications to improve die performance, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Use precision measuring tools, hand tools, shop equipment, and basic machining equipment to complete repairs and adjustments.
  • Support root cause analysis for recurring die issues and help implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of die maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting activities, and improvement actions.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, housekeeping expectations, and maintenance standards while performing work.
