About The Position

Mill Rock Packaging (MRP) is a growing U.S.-based packaging company and a market leader in the design, engineering, and production of high-end, sustainable, and customized graphic paperboard, folding carton, and commercial printing products. MRP serves customers in various industries including consumer staples, food and beverage, technology, pharmaceuticals, health, beauty, and more. This role is responsible for all activities associated with the set-up, make ready, operation, cleanup, and order documentation of the die cutting machines in the facility. It is a fast-paced role where problem-solving abilities and quick responses to changing priorities are key, as the operator will coordinate multiple projects. Training is provided on-site.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety and operational instructions, procedures, and policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions and operational procedures.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary to read work instructions, record job data, follow work schedules, and communicate electronically via email.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to interpret product layouts and production specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure and measurements with speed and accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Die Cutting Operator at a printing or packaging company.
  • Mechanical background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operating a die cutting machine.
  • Staging all materials for the next job on press (printed sheets, cutting die, plate, and blanking tools).
  • Monitoring sheets while the job is running.
  • Transporting die cut loads to Gluing and Stripping staging areas.
  • Conducting routine maintenance.
  • Maintaining organization of plates and cutting dies.
  • Assisting in process improvement/waste reduction techniques.
  • Following all departmental policies, safety rules, and procedures.
  • Following all good manufacturing policies as they relate to food safety.
  • Performing other job duties as assigned.
