Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with die casting tooling and/or die cast processing/engineering.
  • Strong die casting background with emphasis on tooling design/manufacturing, processing of die cast tooling, cost estimation, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to efficiently collect, analyze, and present data in a clear and concise format, interpret data analysis, and provide insightful recommended solutions.
  • Ability to execute timely change through the implementation of lean concepts and process improvements, both small and large, on-plan and within budget.
  • Ability to influence through communication skills, data analysis, and insightful presentation.
  • Ability to manage projects and work in a team project environment.
  • Understanding of lean concepts and how to apply them to a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of quality control and part print references (GD&T).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mold/die flow and CREO/PRO-E software.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a hands-on processing expert, independently performing set-up, sampling, and process optimization of new/modified tooling.
  • Continuously monitor and improve existing manufacturing processes to enhance cycle time, reduce scrap, improve sorting, optimize floor space, and eliminate non-value-added work.
  • Provide technical support and training to production teams.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and deploy lean tools to improve KPIs such as scrap, labor, TPM, EHS performance, and variation reduction.
  • Design, specify, develop costing, and create proposals for new die cast technology.
  • Assist in developing standardized systems and structures for world-class performance, including detailed process instructions, operating specifications, process checks, error proofing, automated process control systems, and preventive maintenance plans.
  • Review, improve, and standardize tooling and equipment preventative maintenance programs based on best practices and cycle counts.
  • Provide training material and guidance for die casting and associated secondary processes.
  • Travel may be required to support tooling start-up at other locations.
  • Ensure consistency in the engineering, documentation, and sustainment of the zinc process within the facility.
  • Drive process and equipment readiness to deliver capable and error-proofed die cast products.
  • Provide expert product design recommendations and feedback for new and existing components to ensure consistent world-class manufacturing performance.
  • Leverage lean concepts and industry benchmarks (visual factory, standard work, error proofing, single piece flow, six sigma, kaizen, TPM, Industry 4.0) to simplify the organization and eliminate decision-making in design, manufacturing, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting processes.
