Job Summary and Essential Job Duties: Optimax is seeking an experienced ultra-precision manufacturing professional to support and advance our Single Point Diamond Turning (SPDT) operations. This role focuses on machine performance optimization, producing optically functional surfaces at the limits of tolerancing. The Diamond Turning Technician will play a role in developing machining strategies, optimizing motion control performance through PID tuning, and driving measurable improvements in surface quality, throughput, and process capability. This position requires technical experience and the ability to solve complex manufacturing challenges in a high-precision optical environment. Through On the Job Training (OJT), the Diamond Turning Technician will: Ultra-Precision Machining: Setup, program, and operate SPDT machine tools to produce ultra-precision optical components and high-value surfaces. Optimize machining processes capable of meeting extreme form and finish requirements. Machine Performance & Controls Optimization: Apply advanced understanding of machine dynamics including vibration, thermal stability, spindle behavior, and tool wear. Troubleshoot machine/process deviations using structured root cause analysis and corrective action methods. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain documentation of process parameters, tooling configurations, non-conformances, and improvement actions. Uphold safety, cleanliness, and handling protocols appropriate for precision optical manufacturing environments.
