About The Position

The Dialysis Staff Nurse provides illness management and health promotion for patients and families with acute renal failure and end stage kidney disease (ESKD). The Dialysis Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate nursing care to their assigned patients. The Dialysis Staff Nurse provides patient and family education and advocates for their needs, while coordinating patient care across multiple departments and personnel as necessary. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree ADN required upon hire
  • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas
  • Licensed RN - Missouri, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri
  • Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Employees must obtain MO or KS Multistate License within 90 days of hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • For all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high-quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the acute and chronic renal failure patients and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meets the educational and informational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
  • Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality, in accordance with regulatory standards and practice guidelines.
