About The Position

The Dialysis Program Administrator is a Registered Nurse that acts as a change agent, professional role model, quality data manager and patient advocate. This person is responsible, accountable and has authority for the advancement of clinical nursing practice in the Dialysis Program. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating systems and programs for the purpose of delivering optimal patient care to dialysis patients. This individual will coordinate clinical, quality, educational and financial activities for the patients, medical staff, nursing, and support services. Provides direction for changes in best nursing practice based on research, acts as a professional role model and clinical consultant. Additionally, must demonstrate excellent communication skills, leadership, decision-making abilities, advanced knowledge and clinical skills in the dialysis specialty. Demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience required.
  • Computer competency, including Microsoft Office and Office 365.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Clinical nursing skills.
  • Sound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive issues and material.
  • Ability to organize and lead teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred
  • Experience in leadership role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the organizational success pillars of success including financial and quality performance, patient experience, and employee engagement.
  • Collaborates with the health care team to develop standards of care for specific patient populations (Dialysis Program) and for Patient Services.
  • Collaborates with the contracted dialysis company (if applicable) to develop and maintain standards of care for Covenant Dialysis patients.
  • Coordinates Dialysis meetings/conferences and works directly with medical director, physicians and staff as appropriate to present outcomes reports for assigned population.
  • Provides leadership to the health care team to develop, implement and evaluate new patient care programs and outcome goals specific to the Dialysis patient population.
  • Collaborates with the health care team to develop care methods (plan of care, algorithms, protocols, order sets, clinical practice guidelines) for specific patient populations and for Dialysis and Patient Services.
  • Manage relationships and workflows with contracted dialysis provider.
  • Evaluates patient care practices, integrating research-based therapeutics and continuous quality improvement to enhance outcomes.
  • Recommends proposed therapeutics (drugs, equipment, products) based on an analysis of evidence-based practice, cost-effectiveness, clinical efficacy, and efficiency.
  • Coordinates, develops, and evaluates patient and family education for effectiveness and cultural appropriateness.
  • Communicate with patients and families in a professional, therapeutic, and courteous manner.
  • Provides clinical education in-service and competency training for staff as requested by unit managers/coordinators.
  • Participates in patient care and unit activities to achieve compliance with all regulatory requirements (ACHC CMS, third party insurers, etc.)
  • Serves as Dialysis representative at patient services, nursing quality council, epic, CQPVA, ACHD, document review committee and administrative, department and quality committees as assigned or requested.
  • Coordinates, develops, analyze and evaluates quality interventions and outcomes for Dialysis services.
  • Abstracts data through concurrent and/or retrospective medical record review.
  • Reviews data for trends and identification of potential causative factors. Submit data to appropriate database as indicated.
  • Serves as a Dialysis service line liaison and working collaboratively with leadership, physicians, nursing, and support staff; as well as multiple departments (ECC, CVICU, etc.) throughout the organization.
  • Maintains professional development through seminars, workshops, in-service activities, and current professional literature.
  • Documents all patient care observations and interventions in the electronic record accurately, clearly, in a timely manner following all established policies.
  • Collaborates with Educational Specialists, Nurse Managers, and others to identify and develop staff educational activities to promote professional growth and competent practice.
  • Administrative lead for Tablo including responsibility for adding/deleting users and for Tablo Hub.
  • Participates in cost containment efforts through efficient use of supplies, services, time management and role modeling efficient patient care practices.
  • Adheres to unit/department budgetary practices.
  • Supports the organization's patient flow efforts through compliance to unit and Patient Services policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
