About The Position

The Dialysis Assistant at Sussex Centre dialysis provides housekeeping duties for the dialysis unit. The individual also maintains the supply inventory working collaboratively with staff and check supply accuracy. Priming, dismantling, cleaning and disinfecting of dialysis machines; performing transportation responsibilities when needed via walker and/or wheelchair; dialysate sampling; ordering and stocking supplies; assist patients with weighing, washroom trips, transfers, heavy lifting, etc.; adhering to and performing routine safety measures and preventative maintenance; performing departmental duties; retrieving and documenting in patient’s chart in addition to protecting patient records/information from all unauthorized persons; ensuring cleanliness of work area; assist Clinical Coordinator/ Registered Nurse with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in assisting with patient care; direct or indirect patient care is essential
  • Must be flexible to work any of the shifts
  • Heavy lifting required
  • May be required to work at other sites multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations

Nice To Haves

  • Previous housekeeping/ hospital experience is preferred
  • Hemodialysis experience preferred

Responsibilities
