About The Position

This individual is responsible for performing an extensive number of data collection functions, as delegated by the physician, to assist in the proper, professional diagnosis of patients’ conditions. This role involves interacting with patients, verifying demographics, operating diagnostic equipment, uploading test results, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining the cleanliness and supply levels of the diagnostic testing area. The technician also plays a key role in managing patient flow within the clinical area.

Requirements

  • Perform data collection functions.
  • Interact with patients respectfully and professionally.
  • Verify patient demographics.
  • Enter data into diagnostic machines.
  • Acquire accurate images and measurements on diagnostic equipment (Visual Field, OCT, Corneal Topography, ORA G3, Fundus Photography, External Photos).
  • Upload acquired tests into the Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Ensure data input is accurate.
  • Wash and sterilize medical instruments using the autoclave.
  • Troubleshoot instruments.
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and data backup on diagnostic equipment.
  • Determine patient order for workup.
  • Escort patients.
  • Assist patients in navigating the diagnostic testing area.
  • Provide patient wait time expectations.
  • Mark patient status in the medical records system.
  • Maintain supply levels and cleanliness.
  • Seek guidance from supervisors and physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data collection functions to assist in patient diagnosis.
  • Interact with patients using respect and professionalism.
  • Verify patient demographics using the electronic medical records system.
  • Enter applicable data into diagnostic machines.
  • Acquire accurate images and measurements on diagnostic equipment including Visual Field, OCT, Corneal Topography, ORA G3, Fundus Photography, and External Photos.
  • Upload acquired tests into the Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Ensure all required data is input and accurate.
  • Wash and sterilize medical instruments using the autoclave.
  • Troubleshoot instruments as necessary.
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and data backup on diagnostic equipment.
  • Determine patient order for workup from the waiting room.
  • Escort patients to and from waiting areas and diagnostic areas.
  • Assist patients in navigating the dimly lit diagnostic testing area.
  • Escort patients to the dilation room and provide realistic wait time expectations.
  • Mark patients as 'Waiting for Doctor or Technician' after data input.
  • Routinely check for instruments needing sterilization.
  • Maintain stock levels of supplies and cleanliness of the diagnostic testing area.
  • Seek guidance from supervisors and physicians when necessary.
