About The Position

This position performs vascular ultrasound on all inpatients and outpatients including other cardiovascular procedures. The role involves performing vascular sonographer core procedures, including extracranial ultrasound, peripheral arterial duplex, segmental pressures, renal artery Doppler, mesenteric Doppler, Transcranial Doppler, peripheral venous, venous reflux studies, vein mapping, fistula evaluations, and arterial bypass evaluations. The technician will also assist the vascular surgeon with procedures. Additionally, the position requires accurate pre and post-processing of files and reports, and proficient utilization of all computer systems associated with cardiovascular services and the Vascular Lab. The role also necessitates responding effectively to emergency or unsupervised situations. Requirements

  • Must have BLS: Basic Life Support certification within 1 month of hire or transfer.
  • Must have ULTRA C I: ARDMS-RVT OR CCI-RVS certification.
  • Must be registered or registry eligible in Vascular Ultrasound (RVT). Registry eligible with successful completion of registry within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Must have an Associate's degree.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required.
  • Able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.
  • May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Some exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
  • Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
  • Must demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer an Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in vascular ultrasound preferred.
