The Diagnostic Radiology Technologist I performs radiographic procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision of technical details. The role involves applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, using independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative as needed. The technologist collects patient medical histories, answers questions about imaging procedures, follows provider instructions about areas to image, and guides patients through imaging safely and comfortably. They operate imaging equipment proficiently, apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology and imaging techniques across patient populations, and may consult with providers about test results and whether additional images are needed.
