About The Position

We are seeking a Diagnostic Radiologist (MO or DO) to support the Veteran community in the Providence, RI area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves direct patient care, reviewing imaging requests, prescribing protocols, communicating with technologists, interpreting diagnostic imaging studies, communicating findings, identifying poor image quality, and participating in multidisciplinary conferences. Administrative duties are also part of the role.

Requirements

Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Physicians must have completed residency training.
Diagnostic Radiology Board-eligible or board-certified and current with MOC, ACGME DR/IR certified or IR fellowship-trained diagnostic and interventional radiologist.
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Review imaging requests for appropriateness and provide appropriate protocols and oversight to radiology technologists.
Protocol examinations and prescribe contrast agents, medications, and radiation doses in accordance with professional industry standards and ACR guidelines.
Communicate imaging protocols to radiology technologists and imaging staff.
Adhere to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles in all radiation-related activities.
Provide interpretations of diagnostic imaging studies within specified turnaround times (STAT within one hour, ASAP within eight hours, Routine within forty-eight hours).
Communicate critical, urgent, and unexpected findings in accordance with departmental policies.
Identify and report poor image quality or equipment performance using appropriate facility reporting channels.
Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and clinical consultations.
Perform administrative duties.
