Under the direction of a Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician, the Diagnostic Perinatology Sonographer performs sonographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. This role involves performing a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative, using ultrasound for diagnosis. The Sonographer will complete exams of abdominal, pelvic, and transvaginal areas, conduct highly detailed head-to-toe evaluations of fetal brain, spine, cardiac, and limbs to assess for congenital anomalies, genetic markers, and structural birth defects. Additionally, the role includes Doppler imaging to measure blood velocities in maternal and fetal vessels for placental function and oxygenation assessment, as well as serial fetal growth and cervical assessments.
