About The Position

Responsible for performing ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. This is a PRN position with flexible scheduling based on your availability and department need! It includes one weeknight of call every 3 weeks and one weekend call approximately every 10 weeks. The role requires thorough understanding of ultrasound machine operation and utilization of new technologies, performing a variety of ultrasound examinations, and establishing and maintaining ethical working relationships and good rapport with patients and all organizational staff. The position also demands maintaining a high standard of medical ethics, being self-motivated to increase understanding and knowledge of the sonography field, and displaying empathy, compassion, and integrity. A candidate must possess an understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and conduct themselves professionally at all times, even during moments of high stress. Responsibilities may include assisting with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes, understanding age-related protocols for various testing, and coordinating work with physicians or other healthcare team members, including providing assistance during invasive procedures when applicable. Additionally, the role may involve supervising and training students and medical sonographers as needed, and reporting and calling in-service requests on equipment. Some Sanford markets/facility sites may expand job responsibilities to include echocardiography.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of one year equivalent work experience is preferred.
Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible.
Registry preferred within two years after hiring.
If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
Understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.
Conduct self professionally at all times, even during moments of high stress.
