About The Position

Diagnostic Medical Sonographers perform sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Highlands Ranch, CO. Community Practice Medicine, housed within the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado, is seeking trained medical professionals to join our growing team. With clinics spanning from Longmont to Castle Rock, we offer a wide variety of opportunities. Specialty areas include, but are not limited to: Orthopedics, Vascular Surgery, OBGYN, Internal Medicine, Urology, Psychiatry, and many more!

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
Two to three (2-3) years of ultrasound technician experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
Valid Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
Registered as a Technologist (RT) and certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
State licensure if required by law.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross healthcare provider level CPR certification.
Must be able to work in-person.
Must be able to travel/cover to alternate locations as assigned.
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, to include physicians, leadership, and staff within the various affiliate organizations (UCH, Children’s Colorado, CU Medicine, CU SOM).
Ability to work within large, complex healthcare systems.
Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Ability to compile complex reports and develop presentations.
Ability to compose letters and memorandums.
Ability to deal calmly and courteously with people.
Ability to deal with stressful situations.
Ability to finish tasks in a timely manner.

Nice To Haves

Four or more (4+) years of ultrasound technician experience in an outpatient setting.
Four or more (4+) years of ultrasound technician experience in an outpatient setting within specialty.
Epic, Kronos, and HealthStream experience.
Bilingual, Spanish-speaking.

Responsibilities

At the direction of a qualified physician or advanced practice provider (APP), performs a variety of procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasonic equipment for the diagnosis of disease in humans.
Reviews patient history and physician's orders in order to perform the prescribed study.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, and referral, and attends to all age-related physical, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice.
Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
