About The Position

Diagnostic Laboratory Technologist is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and test result reporting as defined by CLIA'88. The DLT provides service in one of more sections of the laboratory with a high level of accuracy, prevision and timeliness and ensures compliance with departmental and regulatory agency standards. Service is provided to patients of all age groups. Non-technical duties include taking supply inventories, stocking supplies, cleaning and maintaining work area, equipment and instrumentation. DLT will abide by Children's Minnesota Values in all facets of their work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in a Chemistry or Biological sciences field with a minimum of 24 semester hours of science courses that include Six semester hours of chemistry and Six semester hours of biology and Twelve semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
  • Baccalaureate degree or equivalent required (CLIA '88 regulations)
  • 12 hours of continuing education
  • Up to 1 year of experience in a clinical or anatomic diagnostic laboratory
  • Computer Skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional.
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Demonstrates accountability for actions and decisions in daily work
  • Solicits and accepts feedback in a positive manner
  • Offers constructive input to support the work unit

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years documented laboratory training in the specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
