About The Position

Under the general supervision of a Radiologist and Radiology Leadership, the Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic examinations using a variety of imaging equipment. This role supports patient care by producing high-quality diagnostic images, assisting providers during procedures, maintaining patient safety, and ensuring compliance with departmental, regulatory, and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of one of the following: Certificate of Completion from a hospital-based Radiologic Technology program, or Associate’s degree from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT Registration required or ARRT registry-eligible. Registry-eligible candidates must obtain ARRT certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Employees must successfully complete BLS training within six (6) months of hire.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiographic procedures, anatomy, positioning, and radiation safety practices.
  • Proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and related technology.
  • Ability to use basic computer applications for documentation and departmental record keeping.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and coworkers.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and composure in sensitive or stressful situations.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced diagnostic radiologic examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Rotate assigned duties across multiple areas of the Radiology Department, including offsite locations.
  • Perform specialized procedures, including but not limited to fluoroscopy, joint injections, lumbar punctures, and myelogram examinations.
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment prior to patient arrival.
  • Receive, transport, or escort patients to the examination area.
  • Review patient history and relevant clinical information prior to procedures.
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients and provide reassurance to ensure cooperation and comfort.
  • Position patients accurately to obtain optimal diagnostic results.
  • Set up and adjust immobilization and support devices as necessary.
  • Operate radiographic imaging equipment safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Consult with radiologists and providers to clarify orders or address unusual or complex clinical situations.
  • Assist providers during diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures.
  • Assist in the administration of radiolucent and radiopaque contrast media as prescribed.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions to contrast media and assist during medical emergencies.
  • Perform first aid as required and follow emergency response protocols.
  • Adhere to sterile technique and infection prevention standards when applicable.
  • Ensure imaging rooms and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  • Promptly report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or repair needs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient records and imaging data.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate supply levels in assigned areas.
  • Participate in and/or oversee the training and orientation of student technologists and non-licensed staff as assigned.
  • Demonstrate compliance with radiation safety standards and departmental policies.
