About The Position

The Diagnostic Imaging Tech Aide performs a variety of clinical and clerical support functions to support the assigned imaging area to ensure optimal daily operations. The position helps support the department with such tasks as escorting and transporting patients, patient & room preparation, clarifying imaging orders, as well as scheduling & confirming patient appointments. Contributes to a positive work environment that promotes HMC values.

Requirements

  • 6 months in a customer service role
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
  • Lifting mechanics training within 30 days of hire
  • Medical terminology course within 60 days of hire
  • Basic medical terminology, healthcare and billing procedures and HIPAA regulations and confidentiality.
  • Basic electronic Health Records (EHR) Systems and office equipment and software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software).
  • Effective verbal and written communication, active listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Time management, prioritization, attention to detail, and multitasking.
  • Learning and becoming proficient in computer software, including EHR systems and scheduling software.
  • Excellent customer service skills including patience, empathy and problem-solving.
  • Learn and effectively use computer and software applications as needed to perform job duties.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Learn and effectively use new technology/platforms in a timely manner.
  • Work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Adjust to changing priorities and work demands.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up/preparing the patient and room for procedure and support the technologist throughout the procedure as needed.
  • Support a positive patient experience by monitoring the patient flow across the assigned department, updating patients on delays, and working with teams to address in the moment issues.
  • Turnover imaging exam room between patients including disinfection.
  • Stocking of linen and supplies in exam rooms.
  • Prep patient charts for exam and procedures.
  • Contact providers offices to get clarification on orders as needed.
  • Contact patients to confirm, schedule or modify imaging appointments.
  • Inventory and ordering of department supplies and procedure equipment.
  • Uses EMR and associated electronic applications to perform job duties.
  • Assists department leader and team as assigned.
  • Using interpreter services when needed.
  • Reports problems or mistakes in a timely manner.
  • Escorts or transports patients as needed between imaging areas and hospital rooms.
  • Trained in the use of patient mechanical lifts.
