About The Position

The Diagnostic Imaging Assistant will provide clerical support for the CMG Ultrasound department through interaction and coordination with the Diagnostic Imaging Director, Supervisors and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging. This role plays a vital part in ensuring diagnostic care is accessible to patients by managing referrals, appointments, and services. The DI Assistant will offer comprehensive support to the OB/GYN Ultrasound Department, including handling telephone inquiries, scheduling appointments, obtaining physician orders before testing, and verifying the accuracy of requests in McKesson Paragon and PACS. Additionally, the DI Assistant will be responsible for maintaining medical records, film filing, and managing the department's computerized PACS system for digital imaging. This role also involves performing various tasks to ensure an efficient and organized office environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required or previous experience.
  • Customer service experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Medical terminology strongly desired or must agree to complete on line course within 6 months of hire.
  • Secretarial/Clerical experience with strong organizational skills preferred.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel helpful.
  • Computer knowledge and skills including but not limited to the various McKesson Paragon applications involved in scheduling, ordering and resulting of Diagnostic Imaging examinations and on-line digital imaging (PACS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous medical office and/or hospital experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of computerized or electronic scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support for the CMG Ultrasound department.
  • Interact and coordinate with the Diagnostic Imaging Director, Supervisors, and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Ensure diagnostic care is made available to each patient through referrals, appointments, and services.
  • Provide full support for the OB/GYN Ultrasound Department, including telephone response and patient scheduling.
  • Obtain physician orders prior to testing and verify accuracy in McKesson Paragon and PACS.
  • Manage the maintenance of medical records, film filing, and the department's computerized PACS system.
  • Assist in and perform diverse tasks to maintain an efficient and organized office.
