About The Position

As a Diagnostic Cardiac Medical Sonographer, you will play a pivotal role in helping medical professionals diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions. Your primary responsibility will be to perform echocardiograms, utilizing specialized equipment to produce high-quality images of the heart and surrounding structures. You will work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information, contribute to patient care, and ensure the highest standards of quality and patient safety.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Plus Graduation from an accredited Medical Sonography Program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer within one year of hire
  • Must be registry eligible. Must complete registration within one year of employment
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac ultrasound experience, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
  • Current CPR

Responsibilities

  • Collects required patient data and vital signs.
  • Performs transthoracic, exercise, and pharmacological stress echocardiograms on adult patients utilizing appropriate techniques (M-Mode, 2D, Doppler Color Flow, Spectral Doppler, and bubble studies).
  • Sets up for and assists the physician or licensed provider with procedures and examinations.
  • Sets up for and assists with Transesophageal studies, including patient monitoring and manipulation of ultrasound equipment controls.
  • Performs all required online and offline measurements, calculations, and velocities of acquired images.
  • Recognizes distinct types of cardiac diseases and pathology.
  • Immediately reports critical findings to the reading cardiologist(s).
  • Initiates IV access as needed, and according to UAMS policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes and administers contrast (perflutren or bubble) according to UAMS policies and procedures and documents correctly as evidenced by quarterly performance improvement data.
  • Accurately completes billing and coding information for performed procedures
  • Documents in EPIC based on CNL guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
