About The Position

The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer performs transthoracic, exercise, and pharmacological stress echocardiograms on adult patients using appropriate techniques, including M-Mode, 2D, Doppler Color Flow, Spectral Doppler, and bubble studies. The position is in the ICE | CVSL Non-Invasive Lab OP C department at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and is a temporary, fixed-term role. The work shift varies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, plus graduation from an accredited Medical Sonography Program.

Nice To Haves

• Cardiac ultrasound experience, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing.
• Registered Diagnostic Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer within one year of hire; registry must be completed within one year of employment.
• Current CPR.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound imaging, identifies anomalies, and makes independent protocol decisions based on findings to assist primary care providers with diagnosing patients.
• Obtains, reviews, and integrates pertinent patient history and clinical data to facilitate optimal diagnostic results.
• Maintains sonographic and other equipment in efficient operating order.
• Sets up for and assists the physician or licensed provider with procedures and examinations.
• Completes billing and coding information for performed procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
