AutoShop Recruiting is partnering with one of our clients in the Hamburg, NJ area to hire a top-level Diagnostic Automotive Technician / A-Level Mechanic. This is a well-run, growth-minded independent repair operation with strong leadership, steady workflow, professional service advisors, a training-focused culture, and real opportunity for technicians who want to grow. This is not a "stand around and wait for gravy" shop. The right technician will be confident with diagnostics, heavy repair, inspections, estimating, and customer-pay production. Requirements

  • Proven automotive technician experience with strong diagnostic and mechanical ability
  • A-level technician, master technician, or high-B technician ready to keep growing
  • Comfortable with customer-pay flat-rate production, not just warranty-fed dealership work
  • Ability to inspect vehicles thoroughly and build/write accurate estimates
  • Experience with heavier repair, suspension, engine-compartment work, brakes, maintenance, diagnostics, tires, and alignments
  • Strong tool investment, professional habits, and pride in workmanship
  • Growth-minded attitude and willingness to train, learn, and develop into more responsibility over time
  • ASE certifications are a strong plus; continued ASE/training growth is encouraged
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose drivability, electrical, check-engine-light, engine performance, mechanical, and heavy repair concerns
  • Perform full vehicle health assessments / MPIs with complete notes and estimates
  • Use scan tools, testing procedures, and repair information to verify failures instead of guessing
  • Perform high-quality repairs across domestic, Asian/import, and selected European vehicles
  • Work on customer-pay repair and maintenance work in a professional flat-rate environment
  • Collaborate closely with seasoned service advisors and communicate findings clearly
  • Maintain productivity while protecting quality, safety, and comeback prevention
  • Participate in a culture where downtime is used for cleaning, training, and improving
