About The Position

The Diabetes Educator RD provides nutritional care and consultation to patients and caregivers in inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as through planned community programs. The role brings additional diabetes and diabetes self-management training knowledge gained through work within a self-management education program and continuing education approved by the American Diabetes Association.

The RD provides current expert nutrition knowledge to healthcare professionals to improve nutrition care and health outcomes across the continuum. The role also complies with applicable inpatient and outpatient regulatory requirements to provide high-quality, comprehensive diabetes care.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or a related field.
• Completed internship or another approved pathway to Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for eligibility.
• LDN – Massachusetts Dietitian/Nutritionist license.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration within six months of hire.
• Complete 15 continuing education hours per year in approved diabetes-related topics to maintain employment.
• Obtain Certified Diabetes Educator status within five years.
• Work effectively as both an independent practitioner and a team member within established policies and standards.
• Communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.

Nice To Haves

• One to two years of previous hospital clinical experience is preferred.
