About The Position

The Diabetes Education Specialist RN will complete diabetes assessments/evaluations, and develop and provide education and support to patients with diabetes. This role provides comprehensive self-management education including glucose monitoring, medication, nutrition, and prevention of diabetes-related complications. Experience and knowledge of continuous glucose monitoring devices and insulin protocols are required. The specialist will also provide diabetes competency education to staff members and clinicians.

Requirements

• RN and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credentialing required.
• Experience and knowledge of continuous glucose monitoring devices and insulin protocols.
• Ability to use good judgment to respond to emergencies.
• Ability to establish program goals and objectives that support the patient’s treatment plan.
• Knowledge of endocrinology, pharmacology, and emerging technologies in diabetes care.
• Ability to participate in quality improvement processes and projects to improve diabetes-related practice metrics.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse patient population.

Nice To Haves

• More than five years of experience in providing diabetes care and support in a clinical setting.

• Completes medical record documentation in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
