About The Position

North Point Technology is hiring a hands-on DevSecOps Engineer to keep mission-critical geospatial systems secure, stable, and operating at scale for NGA users across the Federal Government. North Point Technology supports geospatial visualization services that give users online, on-demand access to GEOINT data and products across a wide range of client applications and technologies. This role supports the Strata program in Herndon, VA and sits on the Operations team responsible for keeping enterprise systems and services running reliably, securely, and in line with mission and customer needs.

Requirements

  • Experience working in Linux command line environments
  • CompTIA Security+ certification, or ability to obtain it prior to start
  • Experience using QGIS, ArcGIS, OpenStreetMap, or similar geospatial tools and platforms
  • Experience supporting production systems, troubleshooting operational issues, and maintaining service availability
  • Experience working directly with customers to resolve issues and support mission needs
  • Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI

Nice To Haves

  • Experience monitoring OpenStreetMap services such as tile servers, Overpass API, or Nominatim
  • Experience supporting QGIS plugin deployments
  • Experience with operational monitoring tools such as Zabbix, ELK, or Splunk
  • Experience supporting AWS-based environments
  • Experience coordinating incident response for cross-domain data transfers
  • Experience with automated configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet in multi-network environments
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise or the broader ESRI software suite
  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, systems engineering, GIS, or a related technical field, or equivalent military or professional experience

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations of enterprise geospatial systems and services, working closely with customers, subcontractors, engineers, and distributed teammates to keep the environment running smoothly and meeting contractual and mission requirements.
  • Perform system maintenance activities such as security scans, software patching, troubleshooting, and operational support across the platform.
  • Work directly with users to resolve issues and answer questions related to geospatial visualization capabilities and services.
  • Help monitor and sustain OpenStreetMap and GIS-related services.
  • Support operational readiness across multiple environments.
  • Participate in regular on-call support outside normal business hours, including work that requires physical access to the Herndon DEP II facility.
